Partners from across the Yorkshire and Humber Care Association Alliance (YHCAA) were proud to take part in the West Yorkshire Compassionate Cultures Conference 2026, held under the theme “Leading with Compassion, Thriving Together.”
The conference brought together leaders, practitioners and organisations from across West Yorkshire to explore how embedding compassion within leadership and organisational culture can lead to stronger systems, improved workforce wellbeing, and better outcomes for people who draw on care and support.
Strong Representation from YHCAA Network
YHCAA was pleased to see representation from across its partnership, including KirCCA and Bradford Care Association, highlighting the important role that care associations play in shaping workforce culture and supporting providers across the region.
Exploring Compassion in Practice
The conference programme offered a diverse range of sessions and discussions, focusing on key themes such as:
• Compassionate leadership in action
• Embedding equality, diversity and inclusion
• Workforce sustainability and retention
• The role of self-compassion in leadership and care delivery
• Strengthening system-wide collaboration across West Yorkshire
Attendees also experienced innovative and creative approaches to wellbeing, including opportunities to connect with nature and reflect on the role of environment in supporting compassionate practice.
A Shared Commitment to Culture Change
The event provided a valuable opportunity for professionals from across the health and social care system to come together, share learning and strengthen relationships.
It also reinforced a shared commitment across the sector to:

• Build inclusive and compassionate workplaces
• Work collaboratively across organisational boundaries
